Career Education: Knowledge and Application Are Two Different Things

career educationI am Joe Huang, a Taiwanese student from Taipei on the Associate Degree Program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

By doing the “How to Get Along with Others” apprenticeship, I find that I‘ve gotten an advanced understanding of how to get along with others. It is wonderful to experience the truth of something suggested in my course materials: One can discover what one doesn’t understand or doesn’t fully understand by doing an apprenticeship.

I did this apprenticeship in a school for my career education. I worked with a child who was creating antagonism with his sister. My apprenticeship consisted of helping him to recognize and understand how antagonism is created and how to re-establish good relations with his sister. In summary, I needed to help him solve his difficulties in getting along with others. To help him I had to apply all the tools from this course, including helping him look up words in the dictionary and make sentences with them, having him give me examples and demonstrations of what he had read so that I could see that he had correct understandings, etc.

Actually, what impressed me most was the way I prepared him to reconcile his relationship with his sister.  I helped him work out what type of problem was being created with her and then what specific tool could be used to remedy that. Also, I drilled him in the use of the solution until he felt confident that he could apply it successfully.  Lastly, I had him apply the solution right away with his sister. He really had to work at doing what we had practiced. In the end, the solution worked and I was proud of him. Although I didn’t have the problem of getting along with another, going through those steps with him was a very special experience because I felt that I gained as much or more than he did. From this apprenticeship, I gained confidence in myself and in my ability to coach anyone to get along with others.

To sum up, now I really understand why it is so important to do apprenticeships. They help one to fully understand what one has studied or learned. It was the most practical assignment that I’ve ever done.

Associate Degree: Handling Money Is a Basic Skill in the 21st Century

associate degreeI am Brittany Seymour, an American student from Los Angeles, California on the Associate Degree Program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

Doing the “How to Increase Profits through Proper Financial Planning” course was a lot of fun.  I really got to dig in and find out how a company’s finances should be run.  It also made me take a look at my own money and how I handle it.  Right after I finished this course, I evaluated my finances and organized them in a way that actually left me with money after I paid my bills!

I am currently in the process of evaluating my company’s finances.  I am applying the tools that I learned that ensure a company’s solvency. This is accomplished through knowing and collecting the exact data needed so that the company knows where it is in regards to income sources and expenditures.

This course is absolutely invaluable, and any individual, group or organization can use this data to create financial stability.  I loved doing this course and I’m stoked to have this new data.  I feel much wiser when it comes to money and I know I can handle it correctly.

Associate Degree: Public Relations Apprenticeship

associate degreeI am Miranda Hazen, an American student from Los Angeles, California on the associate degree program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

I recently completed my Public Relations Apprenticeship at the Hubbard College of Administration and I was very happy with the outcome. On this apprenticeship, I did many drills on how to handle different situations that are related to public relations that come up in the real business world: manners, opinion leaders, how to handle an enemy line, handling black PR, how to create a safe space from which to promote one’s company (safe pointing), the PR process in total to name a few.   These drills took the theory of the “Public Relations” course and gave it mass.

This was really amazing because after doing these drills I began to notice that many big well-known companies don’t know how to handle their image correctly. They don’t know the rules of PR and so they get themselves into situations that make them look unprofessional. With this course and apprenticeship, you gain the tools to establish good relations with the public.  In addition, you gain tools to handle negative press or engineered campaigns against your company.

Knowing how to present yourself and your business is a key factor to being successful. Therefore, knowing PR is vital!

Associate Degree: Comparing Numbers = Prosperity

statisticsI am Alex Edwards, an American student from Tujunga, California on the associate degree program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

“Management By Statistics” is an excellent course because it has very significant data pertaining to how to effectively manage any activity or business by statistics. In this case, a statistic is a number or amount compared to an earlier number or amount of the same thing.  It can be graphed. Statistics show one what direction production is heading: improving, staying steady, or going down. This information alerts one to determine what steps would work best for increasing or strengthening the production in an area.

This course goes further. It also addresses rationalizing or making excuses for a down statistic, which inevitably leads to the downfall of a company. An example of rationalizing a down statistic is “Life is like that” or “It was better last week.” These thoughts neither explain nor solve the down statistic. Ignoring a down statistic will end up in no actual actions being done to improve production and will only pave the way for it to fall even further.

The data in this course took the guesswork out of managing a company or business. As an executive, one makes many decisions that affect not only one department but the entire company. This course provides him or her with the tools needed to make the most effective decisions with certainty. He will be making decisions based on actual production trends, and with the knowledge gained in my prior course about conditions and condition formulas, (See my blog Associate Degree: What are you rewarding in your business?) will know the correct handling to better that area’s production.

This course has helped me in many ways to improve the management of my business and personal activities. It’s amazing what this tool can provide for people both professionally and personally. I really believe that all employees and executives of a company should be fully trained in management by statistics. If all companies employed this data the country wouldn’t be in a depression.  If the national administration would manage by statistics, the economy of the nation would prosper and continue to prosper. Companies and organizations would hire and promote productive personnel and strengthen those actions that increase production. The citizens would be enveloped in prosperity because they would be productive. Individuals, businesses and nations need this data! With this tool, we can go show the economy who’s boss!

Associate Degree: It’s Possible to Be in Command of Your Destiny

associate degreeI am Bassam El Houssami, a Lebanese student from Beirut, Lebanon on the Associate Degree Program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

I just finished the “Ethics for Business Survival” course and it gave me the essential tools for survival. A fundamental in life is to maintain your ethics. In addition, one must be aware that everything and everyone is in some operating state, and more importantly, there are specific formulas that can be applied to each operating state to engender improvement. Thus, keeping one on the way to prosperity.

The same basic insight applies to businesses and civilizations. If civilizations had known this basic understanding and technology, which is simple and easy to apply, the earth would be a prosperous and glorious place. The same can be said of contemporary society, lacking this data is causing its downfall.

Whether you are rich or poor, smart or average, one can still apply these formulas and advance one’s state of affairs markedly. Take the situation of two countries that are enemies and are in constant war with each other. If they would adopt these tools, they could apply the formula for the enemy condition, moving them a step closer to a progressive relationship. In terms of economics, if America knew this technology of ethics, states of operations and their formulas, I am sure inflation and the host of other economic ills would not be a problem.
The country would be experiencing steady growth toward prosperity.

In summary, this course “Ethics for Business Survival” is a foundation for individuals, businesses and countries alike to build successful lives, corporations and even countries. It was great data for me, and I am sure it will be of great value to anyone who wants to be in more control of their personal or professional life.

Associate Degree: What Are You Rewarding in Your Business?

Associate degreeI am Alex Edwards, an American student from Tujunga, California on the associate degree program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

The “Formulas for Business Success” course is my favorite course so far taken here at Hubbard College. The tools that are included are invaluable and I learned techniques that, when applied, produce amazing results. I learned from this course that every activity, no matter what it is, is in a certain operating state. And I learned that there is a set sequence of specific operating states that form a progression from the lowest to the highest operating state. Furthermore, there are formulas, which are exact steps to take, to move from a lower to a higher operating state, culminating in attainment and maintenance of the highest operating state power.

I also learned management techniques as well. For instance, instead of managing on guesswork or rumor, you use statistics. A statistic is a number or amount compared to an earlier number or amount of the same thing. Statistics show you what areas in your company are rising, staying steady, or falling in production all at a quick glance. This helps a person make more accurate decisions.  Furthermore, statistics allow a person to correlate his or her actions with sudden changes in production either up or down.

Another datum covered in the course, which when I think about it is common sense, is to reward the people who are producing in a company and penalize the people who are not producing or producing little in a company. It’s very simple but in actuality I’ve seen executives rewarding the people who are not producing and ignoring the people actually contributing to the business. This sends the message that it’s okay not to produce. On the other hand, when one rewards the people producing in a company, it establishes that as the example to follow to the other employees. Thus rewarding the producers says to the group when you work hard at your job and produce you will be rewarded and acknowledged.

This knowledge helped me double my production in many areas of my life. I have never been more efficient! It’s totally real to me that every business should have this data as it would help them tremendously. From first-hand experience, I’ve worked in companies that use this data and they are some of the fastest-growing companies that I know. This course contains the data you need for business success; I recommend you get started on it today!

Associate Degree: A Basic Learning Insight

Associate degreeI am Gloria Liu, a Taiwanese student from Taipei on the associate degree program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA. I just completed the course “How to Achieve Effective Learning.” This was a big and a tough one.

I gained deeper knowledge on how to study. To start with, one really needs to have a purpose for studying. If one does not have a purpose, or if one has the purpose of merely passing an exam for a certificate/degree, one is going to fail. Maybe one is not going to fail the exam, but one is definitely going to fail to produce in society. Why? The ultimate utility and test of knowledge is in its application.

In my country, Taiwan, a university degree is the basic academic requirement. In Taiwan, competition for positions in universities and for jobs is fierce, but many students do not understand that the real value of data is in its application. Therefore, they do not have a purpose to apply the data in work or life. That’s why university students commonly cannot find a job. As a consequence, a university degree means nothing.

I am not saying that going to a university is useless, but since we know the purpose of going to a university is to get a great job, unless the purpose of study is to gain knowledge to apply it the purpose of going to a university is lost.

Career Education: Getting Along with Others

career educationBy Sergio Castellano from San Antonio, Texas on the continuing education program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

I just finished my first course for my career education called, “How to Get Along with Others.”  Basically, I learned a lot.  This course was perfect for me because it gave me the data on how to get along with others, like my family, friends, co-workers and anyone else in my environment.  I learned how to increase affinity (good feelings), reality (agreement) and, more importantly, good communication with others. In essence, I learned how to increase understanding between others and myself.  This data is very practical. I can apply them in my new position as a manager and also in my life.  I recommend this course and the tools it presents to anyone. This course is like a precious ring on my finger.

Associate Degree: Basic Organization

Associate degreeI am Jack Cheng, a Taiwanese student from Kaohsiung on the associate degree program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

I am glad that I completed this “Basic Organization” course. I learned a lot of great ideas about how to organize a business. In modern society, people tend to work together in groups usually in companies or businesses. However without proper organization, as the size of an organization increases its efficiency tends to diminish in inverse ratio to its size. In short, the bigger the organization is the less efficient. Bureaucracy, wasted time, not well organized production flows and jammed communication lines, these things can happen in any organization. This course handles all those problems. After studying the data in this course, those basic organizational problems are easy to solve.

In this course, I learned how to design a proper organizing board and how to correct an existing organizing board in order to make it fit the real situation. I know more about the organizing board, a hat (the write-up of the duties and responsibilities of a position), divisions (major functions of any organization), departments (the major sub-divisions of any division) and, most importantly, how to put them together and achieve an optimum efficiency and organizational benefit. This data is vital for any group, any executive, anyone who wants to have a better future. I had fun studying this course.

Associate Degree: Violation of One’s Personal Integrity Leads to Criminal Behavior

Associate degreeI am Joe Huang, a Taiwanese student from Taipei on the associate degree program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA. I just completed the “Personal Integrity” course.

Nowadays, the crime rate has risen dramatically. Specialists, like psychologists, are striving to figure out what prompts the criminal’s behavior. However, they haven’t found the real reason why people do harmful things to other people. In this course, “Personal Integrity,” I’ve learned a real reason why people do unethical things.

In this amazing course, I’ve learned that someone becomes a criminal because he or she was forced to accept some “rights and wrongs” that he or she didn’t agree with. Therefore, we can’t force people to accept them.  A person will only conduct his or herself ethically and morally because he or she wants to. Furthermore, one will feel guilty and be unhappy if he or she does something that he or she thinks is wrong and if he or she withholds (hides it from another) that act. Withheld harmful acts generate more harmful acts to hide.  Fortunately, there is a simple solution to this dilemma: what he or she needs to do is to tell what he or she has withheld. This is the road of self-exoneration and leads to recovered happiness.

The ex-president in Taiwan has committed a crime in stealing a huge amount of money from the country. What he did is considered wrong. He withheld his acts; therefore, he is unhappy. The way to regain his happiness and to reduce the crime rate is to tell the things one has withheld.

To sum up, this is a very useful course. It can help you to examine yourself and correct any wrong behaviors and clean up any past misdeeds. I have applied this personal integrity technology to myself with favorable results. I really learned a lot from this “Personal Integrity” course.
