Associate Degree: Executive Basics

Associate degreeWritten by Saleem El Houssami, a Lebanese student from Beirut, Lebanon on the associate degree program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

The “Executive Basics” course was pretty good; it gave me a lot of information on what an executive really is and does.  I had this totally different idea of it. I thought that an executive doesn’t really do much work in a company.  I thought that he just sits behind his desk and gives out orders and that’s about it.

After studying the “Executive Basics” course, I have a completely different idea.  I know what an executive actually does.  I know what his purpose is.  I know what he needs to do, and how important it is for him to do his job.  His unique job is the proper supervision of the staff and seeing that the company gets out its products or services.  In short, he gets the work done by getting the staff to do their jobs. This new information will surely help me out in the future and will make me successful.

Hubbard College of Administration is a self-paced business school that offers an exceptional business administration curriculum, unique learning technology, life-changing apprenticeships and internships, assistance with job placement and a lifetime warranty for students.  I am currently on the “Effective Leadership” course.

Great job Saleem in completing Executive Basics Course :P
That is really interesting that you thought an executive doesn’t do anything! I actually thought the opposite! I thought they have to do everything and keep telling everyone to do their job and eventually they would give up and do it himself! But then I learned that is not the case! As you said their main job is to demand the product and make sure the production is happening; this also gets done by him writing different programs and his juniors getting it done :) He writes the programs, his deputy gets it done and the Establishment Officer makes sure there are people there to produce and follow the deputy’s orders.
There are many over worked executives out there Saleem, do you have any feedback on how they can be more comfortable while they are doing their job?

Good job on finding out what an executive actually does. Being an executive is hard work. You have to to be able to do everything better than anyone in the chain of command, you have to be competent and have high ethics presence. I have done this course before and it is truly a course with shows you how and what an executive is. The best thing i liked was that it gave me an example from the past of the mistakes of leader which game a lot of mass. Great blog and nice course.
