I am Alex Edwards, an American student from Tujunga, California on the Associate Degree Program at the Hubbard College of Administration (HCA), Los Angeles, CA.

On the “How to Make Planning Become an Actuality” apprenticeship, I worked with the general manager of a nutrition company to resolve an issue that he had been trying to handle for several months. He wanted to put on a nutrition fair in Toluca Lake, California, but he first needed to acquire a desired location, which he had trouble getting from the start. This gave me the opportunity to utilize what I had learned in “How to Make Planning Become an Actuality,” “Ethics for Business Survival,” “How to Get Things Done,” “Improving Business through Communication” and “How to Get Along with Others” courses in a real-world business situation where things donít always go as intended.

The truth of the matter is that even though I got to drill writing a program while on the course, I never got the chance to write one for another person on a larger scale. That’s where the apprenticeship, as usual, came in to give me the confidence I needed to know I could write a program for any situation in life. So, after getting all the information from the general manager as to what he wanted as far as location, I got to work. I wrote up a general outline of what things needed to be done and classified them according to the six categories (target types) I had learned about.

During the composition phase of programming, something really hit home to me.  Even if only one of these target types is missing from a program, it will utterly fail. So, once everything was written, I gave the program to someone to actually execute. Even though this person had never worked on something like this, all he had to do was follow the program and everything went perfectly. For example, one of the contacts that we originally thought would have certain information didn’t after all and referred us to another contact. Luckily, I had a conditional target that took into account whether or not that action succeeded.

In the end, I had acquired the information requested by the general manager by someone following a simple program that I had written. I relayed the information to the general manager and he was able to set up meetings with the owner for the signing of agreements to acquire his desired venue.  Many people have plans. These are the short-range broad intentions to expand or progress. Maybe a person wants to be an actor, a doctor or a lawyer. Or, they may aspire just to be a millionaire. All of these objectives are possible for a person to achieve no matter what anyone else says. If a person knows the technology of complete planning and applies it realistically, then ANYTHING can be achieved.

Hi, I am Eduardo Santos, a Mexican student from Monclova, Coahuila on the Associate Degree Program at Hubbard College of Administration (HCA) in Los Angeles, CA.

I just finished the How To Get Along With Others course, and I can tell that your life will not be the same after learning this simple, but incredible data!

While doing this course, I realized that the most basic things, like allowing a person to be what he is, are key for having good relationships with all the people that you surround yourself with. And who doesn’t want that?

One thing that I especially liked is “Greatness.” This means that if you learn how to love everyone even though they give you reasons for not loving them, your greatness will increase and you will gain the respect and love of others.

The ARC triangle is another impressive thing. Once you know how the triangle works, you can say goodbye to your bad relationships. This triangle, which stands for Affinity, Reality and Communication, works like magic, because if you put it into practice, you will see the immediate results of it. If you increase one of the points of the triangle, the other two will increase also. Communication is the most important thing that we have.  Without communication, it would almost impossible to have reality and by consequence affinity.

The Tone Scale taught me how to detect what tone level a person is in. This is very helpful, because I think that every one of us has some people in their lives that might hate us or might be antagonistic towards us. Well, if you know the tone scale, you will know exactly how to handle the situation with that person so you can have a better relationship.  Thus, resulting in a happier and more stress-free life.

I completed Policy course and I realized that no matter how small an activity is, there must be a BASIC PURPOSE. You keep your BASIC PURPOSE and you are moving toward your GOAL. Because the BASIC PURPOSE is also somewhere you are trying to achieve.  I can say that someone works with BASIC PURPOSE and make sure he always goes with it, then he must see the result – the whole activity will flourish and go into affluence.

So, how to make the above happen? There must be something that can help. It’s policy! Policy is a rule or procedure or guidance which permits the BASIC PURPOSE to succeed.

Some business fail, maybe the only reason is that nobody in the office follows the policy or they don’t even know they have policy or even they donít have any policy. Then, when they have any situation, no matter how small it is, they just have no clue of handling it and they wind up with a collapsed company.

I believe nobody want to reach failure and everyone wants to win. Now you have technique – Policy. Apply it and forward your BASIC PURPOSE. Now you know your ideal scene is waiting for you and your life will be successful.

During the course of the Formulas for Business Success and Management by Statistics apprenticeship, you make huge positive changes in your life and the life of others. You figure out exactly what you are producing and what operating state that activity is in. You actually set yourself a production assignment (quota) on each of your products and then list out all the steps necessary to make that quota a reality (targets). While you are doing this, you are applying the formula which corresponds to the operating state the activity is in which will result in your production moving up into a new realm as measured by your statistic, which is a number or amount compared to an earlier number or amount of the same thing, for that product.

As a result of this apprenticeship, I achieved certainty and confidence in my ability to scale graphs correctly as well as determine the correct length of time in which to manage production. Also I could easily tell what operating state my production activity was in and, as a result of that, apply the precise condition formula indicated to improve the situation.

As one of the tasks in the apprenticeship, I had to look at all the key things I was producing in my life, then apply what I had learned on the two courses mentioned above for three weeks in order to increase the production of those key things. My application consisted of keeping graphs, applying condition formulas, implementing quotas and targeting for each of the main products in my life. As a result, I achieved increases in all of my statistics. I could see that through intensive use of this data I can keep my statistics increasing and, should they fall, remedy the situation right away. I have to say that I have never been so productive before in my life, and it was all due to applying this data. It has amazing value and I will surely keep using it because after all Iím striving for growth, not non-existence.

The best part of this apprenticeship was helping an executive of a small business increase her sales. She had been having trouble keeping her sales in a viable range and just couldnít seem to change the situation. I went to her business and helped her determine which operating state her production was in based on her statistic. Next, I helped her plan out the exact steps she was going to take to raise her production (targeting) as would be measured by an improved statistic.

While helping improve the small business ownerís production, I began to see how different it is to help another raise her statistic in comparison to my own. With my own personal statistics, it was a lot easier just to discipline myself and make all of my targets, but with someone else I really had to make sure that they got her targets done in order to raise her statistic. After a couple weeks, her stat had gone up, and she was very happy that I had shown her these tools. Iíve kept in touch with her and her sales are still up in comparison to before. I now feel totally confident that I can help anyone increase their production as measured by increased statistics through the management tools of managing by statistics and formulas for business success!

Where to begin?  How to Get Along with Others is my first apprenticeship. At first I was apprehensive about doing an apprenticeship, but was pleasantly surprised with how it turned out. Although the courses are great and awesome, it’s the apprenticeships that provide the proof that what one is learning actually works.  The experience of the apprenticeships releases any and all doubt about the workability of what you are studying. That type of validation is what a student like me needs to continue studying and learning. I am now more eager to go through courses and as a byproduct of this increasing confidence in the applicability of what I learn, I am more curious and interested in what I’m being asked to study. The courses offered here are real business, the kind of business insights and tools that I don’t think I would learn anywhere else.

Today I sat down in Interview Room #300 with Franco Chaves, a 21-year-old student attending the Hubbard College and talked a bit about his life goals and experience at the HCA so far.

Me: First off, where are you originally from?
Franco: Lima, Peru.

Me: And how did you hear about the Hubbard College?
Franco: I heard about the Hubbard College through a high school tutor who used the study technology that is used here at the college. One day she brought me here on a tour and then bang, I was interested. When I finished school and started considering college, my first choice was here.

Me: What program are you on currently?
Franco: Well, I first started on an Administrative Management Program. When I finished it I decided to do the degree program. So now I’m on the degree program getting my Associates.

Me: Did you attend the Sales Workshop here April 4th and what did you think about it?
Franco: Yes, I’ve gone to four of them now! I like that there’s practice of the techniques of how to sell! I also like that I could talk to the seminar speaker and he helped me with the application of the techniques.

Me: What in particular has made your Hubbard College career education stand out from the rest of the career colleges and business schools out there?
Franco: Because of the apprenticeships here- I can practice what I learn and I meet different business people at the same time.

Me: Have You Planned out how you’re going to find a job after finishing your program?
Franco: I will be working with the job placement service here at HCA. I’m not worried. Also I’ve made many friends here from different places: Los Angeles, Lebanon, Japan, Russia, Columbia, Cuba, and many other countries. I’m sure I will keep in touch with them throughout my career. You never know…

Me: Is there something that stands out in your experience here so far that you would like to mention?
Franco: Yeah, being sent to different apprenticeships gave me a real good understanding of how companies work and how the structure works. This helps because it gives me ideas of how I can use the structures and plans they use in my own company.

Me: What are your immediate plans after you get your Associate Degree here?
Franco: My plans are to become an American Citizen, work, save up more money and eventually go back to Peru and open a business consultant company.

While on my apprenticeships I did lots of consulting in many different fields. I got experience I wouldn’t have gotten elsewhere. Before I wasn’t sure of myself, but when you have to prove that you know what you are doing I realized how valuable I really was. I even got job offers at the places I was doing my apprenticeships at, even before I had my degree.

I’d like to see how many people this happens to while they’re still in college. I now have real life tools to help me find a job of my dreams.
