"When I started out, I was an eccentric artist with no connections, no business savvy, and like most artists in my industry, I didn't have much affinity for the business side of fashion-just a burning desire to create an effect with my work. Then I was introduced to Hubbard Management Technology and using Hubbard PR and Marketing principles my company grew 500 percent in six years. It is now being a multimillion-dollar company."

Get an Associate Degree, Find a Job and Become Successful

blog-27-imageBecause Sitting Around Waiting For Something to Happen Will Get You Nowhere

Sometimes we all look for answers, solutions to those aaaccching questions we have. Where am I going? What’s the point of it all?

I used to be like that.

I sat around, hung with friends, played games, chased girls, slept, studied, etc.
But then came a point in my life, where I realized that I wasn’t going in any direction at all, even though I had told myself I wanted to become successful one day.

And I wish that point had come to me a lot earlier.

I got up and started looking for answers; I looked for it in my own country. I even thought I had it for a while by doing Commercial Engineering. I finished the first out of four years and found out it wasn’t the solution.

I then got a lousy job (because I couldn’t get hired because of my inexperience), worked at it for 2 years, didn’t get me anywhere.

Luckily my dad came to me one random day in May, and said there might be something for me to “just take a look at”. This was a slick looking Business Administration College in Los Angeles called Hubbard College, I said “Why not check it out and enjoy the sun while I’m there?”

Who would have guessed that was the best decision of my life.

I quickly signed up for the Business Administration Degree they offer.

I now not only get a great education, I get actual experience.
They send me out to companies as an apprentice, and eventually as an intern, to actually learn to APPLY what you study.

This seemed like such a good idea, they even HELP you find a job.
And they have gotten about every graduate one, isn’t that amazing?

When are you going to get up?

Job Placement in your Career Education

blog-26-imageHello everyone, this is Janz Gonzalez, an Associate Degree student at Hubbard College of Administration. In these hard economic times, when college students are done with their studies, they wonder, “what I’m going to do?” or, “how can I find a job?”

Here at Hubbard College, the school helps you find a job where you can start your professional career and success in life. Also, students go to lots of companies when they are doing their apprenticeships. They get job offers based on how well they perform while doing their school work.

In my personal case, I was doing my Financial Planning Course Apprenticeship at a medical clinic. When I was almost done with the apprenticeship, the owner of the company talked to me and offered me a position where I had to take care of the finances of the business. Unfortunately, I already had a job. I think that that was amazing since not too many colleges have these opportunities for their students.

The Hubbard College Associate Degree Really Does Sell Itself

blog-25-imageThis past week I finished the last course on the Associate Degree program, the Sales Course. The day I finished it I started an apprenticeship, which was aimed at putting my knowledge to the test. The practical side (as opposed to theory study) is what really helps graduates here find a job. We all know managers look for experience in new recruits…right?

In the two days I took to sell, I sold a lady a month of service with me as well as did some cold selling on the street like the old days and sold five units in two hours! I also finally tackled my email files and compiled all of the names, numbers and email addresses of everyone who’d contacted me for services since 2007.  Now I know that when I contact these people I’ll get a much higher closing rate. I now actually have career education to back up my experience whereas before all I had to work with was trial and error.

When I went cold selling I took a good friend of mine along and gave him a quick rundown on some simple sales no-no’s as well as some tips.  Throughout the selling he made price concessions, which were unnecessary. I promptly corrected him after the sale and got across to him that if the person is receptive, you don’t need to make any price reductions. Only reduce when absolutely necessary, not as a courtesy. We both broke old habits and know we’ll do well in the future as a sales team.

Though I have done an entire course and apprenticeship on sales, I’m still learning on the subject and plan to attend the sales workshop here at the college June 26th and 27th.

The Challenging Career Education You’ve Been Looking For

blog-17-imageWith This Management Degree, You’ll be an Executive Godsend

Companies are letting go of a lot of jobs, this is true. What is not true however is that it is impossible to find a job. When people go for an interview, they just have nothing to show their potential employer that they accomplished something in life.

All they ever did was read, read and read. This might get you some grades, but does it give you any experience and real results in life? Not really.

I remember going to a company to apply my basic organization theory course. I had to make an Organizing Board and create an organized and trained group of people.
I had such an amazing time doing it.

Studying is one thing, but actually doing it is a whole different ball game.

After I was looking at my final product, an organized company who knew exactly its purpose and goal as a company and who had an organizing board they could use, I was just so sure that I could apply this to any company, and more importantly my life.

See an organization doesn’t always just mean a business; you organize your life constantly right? You decide when you get dinner, you organize that in your schedule. You organize parties for your friends, you organize how you are going to invite them, you organize who is going to bring the drinks. You organize.

So why would you not want to be able to organize a whole company? It’s the same thing, just on a bigger scale. It’s not hard at all.

“Yeah, you make it sound easy, but I have a company of (only 3)/(20)/(500) employees.” It doesn’t matter, the organizing board assigns responsibilities to persons and just indicates what their product is and what their goal is.

blog-17-image-2Each job and post has its own purpose in a company, even if one person does a whole lot, if you can put them all in its correct place, it’s ORGANIZED.

I encourage every frustrated CEO who does all the work in his company by himself to check out this course. It’s vital to you.

And I encourage every student out of high school, or college student to come do some of these amazing courses or even get started on the Associate Degree.

Lots of schools can give you an administration degree, but what they often can’t give you is competence in your ability to DO.

The Hubbard College of Administration can.

Finally, A College That Helps You Find A Job

blog-16-imageNo More MBA Street Sweepers

So you graduated university. Awesome.
So you scored well on your tests. Awesome.
So you want to start making money. Grrreat… We’ll get right on that…

Ya right.

I like America for a lot of things, but the general schooling is one thing I don’t agree with. Universities cost a ton of money and teach you a lot of things you aren’t going to use later. It’s sad to see so many people spend so much money on ‘college’ and then get stuck in this horrible drag with no way to ever pay back their college debt.

You finish college; got this huge debt and you need to find a job. You’ll probably start off by calling your mom, see if you can crash there for a short while. Of course you can.

The first weeks you’re back, you just want to have some vacation. I mean you just graduated right?! A month goes by and you are feeling confident, and start searching for some job applications. Hmmm, there aren’t many jobs available right now… Oh here’s one!

The interview didn’t go so well, they were looking for someone with experience. You didn’t have that yet, because college only taught you to KNOW stuff in your career education, not to DO stuff.

blog-16-image-2You can’t get a job for a while, you then start giving blame. It’s the economy’s fault! It’s the evil corporations! At first it seems to be that way, until you just start blaming the most random things, it’s that one girls’ fault! It’s “that dinner I had Friday’s fault. It just stops making sense and you get scared, and then get sad and then hopeless.

This is how it goes.

So you want to change that? Awesome.
So you want to get a life and start a career? Awesome!
And you want to start making money right after college? Sure, we can help you with that.

That’s Hubbard College of Administration, every student who has graduated has been assisted in getting a job in the field they are interested in. The school has contact with a great number of companies throughout the world who are alumni or just familiar with the results the Associate degree students produce.

Companies are looking for people who can DO stuff, and do them right. Many of my friends here have graduated and could immediately decide to start working at a place they would like to work at.

There is always job placement, there is never an exception. A graduate will ALWAYS find a job when they graduate.

I want to start my own company and be an entrepreneur. I am going to work back in my own country for a while at my dads’ welding company and during that time I will apply the tools I learned here at the college to create a plan to launch my business after about a year.

So if you’re having any trouble with finding a job or your current college’s education, let me know.

Another Great Interview with a Hubbard College Associate Degree Student

Today I sat an interviewed Associate Degree student Elena Kalinina from Russia. She had many great views on the program, as she had quite a bit of experience before coming here with the work world as it really is. She is currently on her How to Effective Write Company Policy course and just finished her How to Increase Profits Through Proper Financial Planning Course.

Me: First off, where are you from?
Elena: Moscow, Russia.

Me: How did you hear of the Hubbard College?
Elena: I heard about it through my boyfriend who has a technology company in Switzerland. He wanted more trained employees and wanted me to work for him so I came here to get the right training.

Me: What made you decide to come to the college?
Elena: I was looking for something new. I had graduated a university in Russia with a degree in engineering. I didn’t see in my education what I really wanted. I was looking for something I could apply.  When I was shown the Hubbard College website it was interesting. The degree included sales, marketing, PR, and so many other parts. It included all I needed. Also, it was a good idea for me to come to America and have to be in an environment where I could learn English and have to learn English.

[Elena has been here less than a year and is already speaking amazing English]

Me: What did you do in Russia for work before you came here?
Elena: I have had many different experiences. The last company I worked for was IKEA Moscow, in the leasing dept. I had also worked in a hair transplant clinic as a receptionist! Looking back at the other jobs I’ve had I can now spot the mistakes the companies made by comparing them to the data I have now learned.

Me: What in particular makes the Hubbard College career education stand out from other colleges and business schools?
Elena: First of all, in my university I would only study 2 weeks prior to my exams and I would study TO pass the exam. So the purpose of studying was wrong. It wasn’t to apply the course. At the end when I had my university degree I didn’t feel I could comfortably work in a company because I had no experience before.

At this college there is no stress for exams. Students have their own speed. Here you study at your own speed. Some are fast some are slower, but each student has the purpose to learn the course and then go and use the knowledge.

Also all I learn now, I can remember. When I do a course and then go apprentice, the information is more real to me because I have done something with it and used it.

Me: The current unemployment rate includes college graduates. What about your education here makes you sure you’ll find a job after finishing your program?
Elena: The administration technology I have learned here makes me feel secure because it’s a technology and there are formulas. It’s actually really simple, if you know how it works. That gives me security.

Me: How do you think your management degree will help you if you were to start a company as an entrepreneur.
Elena: Well the basic idea is being able to establish a valuable final product and then set up a system to produce and deliver it. I need to be able to communicate to others, and again, apply certain formulas to increase the statistics. To run any business, I have to be able to have an organization not just a group of people (company). I know the right way to have coordination inside a company. I know all of these things!

A Hubbard College Interview: A Personal Look At Career Education

This blog starts the beginning of a series of blogs I’ll be doing which will offer any blog follower a better insight into different Hubbard College of Administration (HCA) students and their career education paths. In my first blog post I gave a little bit of information about myself– now you can learn about some others and see the veritable melting pot we have here.

Today I sat down in Interview Room #300 with Franco Chaves, a 21-year-old student attending the Hubbard College and talked a bit about his life goals and experience at the HCA so far.

Me: First off, where are you originally from?
Franco: Lima, Peru.

Me: And how did you hear about the Hubbard College?
Franco: I heard about the Hubbard College through a high school tutor who used the study technology that is used here at the college. One day she brought me here on a tour and then bang, I was interested. When I finished school and started considering college, my first choice was here.

Me: What program are you on currently?
Franco: Well, I first started on an Administrative Management Program. When I finished it I decided to do the degree program. So now I’m on the degree program getting my Associates.

Me: Did you attend the Sales Workshop here April 4th and what did you think about it?
Franco: Yes, I’ve gone to four of them now! I like that there’s practice of the techniques of how to sell! I also like that I could talk to the seminar speaker and he helped me with the application of the techniques.

Me: What in particular has made your Hubbard College career education stand out from the rest of the career colleges and business schools out there?
Franco: Because of the apprenticeships here- I can practice what I learn and I meet different business people at the same time.

Me: Have You Planned out how you’re going to find a job after finishing your program?
Franco: I will be working with the job placement service here at HCA. I’m not worried. Also I’ve made many friends here from different places: Los Angeles, Lebanon, Japan, Russia, Columbia, Cuba, and many other countries. I’m sure I will keep in touch with them throughout my career. You never know…

Me: Is there something that stands out in your experience here so far that you would like to mention?
Franco: Yeah, being sent to different apprenticeships gave me a real good understanding of how companies work and how the structure works. This helps because it gives me ideas of how I can use the structures and plans they use in my own company.

Me: What are your immediate plans after you get your Associate Degree here?
Franco: My plans are to become an American Citizen, work, save up more money and eventually go back to Peru and open a business consultant company.

An Administration Degree to Manage a Business

As a young entrepreneur I never wanted to find a job and work for a company. I just wanted to own my company. These days I hear that a lot. Someone asks little Timmy what he wants to be when he grows up, “Own my own business.” Everyone says great and just carries a long. Well I realized a few years back that owning your own business is a lot more complicated than that.

I needed to get a Business Administration Degree, or else I was never going to reach my goal of “owning my own business.” Well I’m almost there. I haven’t got my Business Administration Degree yet, but I’m already starting my own business. And on just the start-up I’m very happy I have all of the knowledge I’ve learned so far. I don’t think I would have made it this far without learning how to really run a business.

My theory is if you know how to run a business, then you know the proper way for it to be set-up. And it’s also a whole heck of a lot easier to set it up.

Today’s world is changing, and you’ve got to know what you’re doing just to keep up with the changes that are going on out there. Mark Cuban recently asked on his blog for a good idea for a new product or business that needs his money. Hundreds of people out there have submitted in-the-works ideas, but few have been chosen.

The point is 5 years ago that would have never happened. With the Business Administration Degree that I’m getting from Hubbard College, I feel like I have the ability to survive in this crazy business world.

The Joy of a Self Paced Associate Degree

Since I’m trying to start my own business while I am going to Hubbard College, it really helps that they allow you to go at your own pace. For instance, a few weeks ago I needed to spend more time on a business project I was doing, but I had college that night. Hubbard College let me spend that time on the business thing I was doing and make up the scheduled time on my Associate Degree later on the week.

Having a self paced career education really helps when you’re trying to start a new business or even find a job. You don’t always have time to focus on school when you’re trying to start the next Google, no matter how old you are. Remember, Facebook changed the world and it was started by some college dude.

Hubbard College knows that, and it’s something they highly support. That’s why they allow you to go at your own pace. Instead of having hoping you get all you need to pass the next test and praying you remember it by the time finals come.

Why My Associate Degree is Important

I’ve been at Hubbard College for a little while and I’m almost done with my degree program. Just because I’ve been going to college doesn’t mean that I walk with just my Associate Degree. Since Hubbard College has you going on apprenticeships throughout the degree program you get a lot of on the job experience.

While on my apprenticeships I did lots of consulting in many different fields. I got experience I wouldn’t have gotten elsewhere. Before I wasn’t sure of myself, but when you have to prove that you know what you are doing I realized how valuable I really was. I even got job offers at the places I was doing my apprenticeships at, even before I had my degree.

I’d like to see how many people this happens to while they’re still in college. I now have real life tools to help me find a job of my dreams.
